TUM SOM RUNNING CHALLENGE

Ready, steady, go! Put on your running shoes and join our Running Challenge! Whether you are an endurance runner or prefer short 2-3 kilometer runs, our challenge is open for everyone. The goal is to run together an accumulated distance of 295 kilometers, which is the total length of the river Isar – from its spring in the Karwendel mountain range in Tyrol, Austria, all the way to Deggendorf, where it flows into the Danube.

  • When and where does the Challenge take place?

The Running Challenge takes place… wherever you are! You can participate from anywhere around the world.

    The time frame is 21-30.06.2021.

  • How far do I have to run?

There is no fixed distance that you need to run. One kilometer is the minimum distance for the run to count. So, you can run as little as 1-2 kilometers, or as long as half a marathon – it’s up to you 🙂 You can also go running more than once.

Every run counts towards our total goal of 295 km.

  • How do I track my runs?

In order to participate in our Challenge, you need to track your runs using the Adidas Runtastic mobile app, which is available for Android and iOS. After you create an account, join our Running Challenge group. This way, everyone’s kilometers will be added up and we can keep track of the participants.

If you use a fitness watch to track your runs, you can connect it to the app and automatically transfer your runs.

  • Where can I go for a run in Munich?

With all its parks and green areas, Munich has a lot to offer for runners. Here are our suggestions and tips for places to run in the city:

    • English Garden: the Northern side of the park is usually less crowded.
    • Isar Shores: choose your starting point anywhere by the Isar and just follow the river.
    • Olympiapark: make sure to include Olympiaberg in your run to be rewarded with a lovely view of the surroundings.
    • Nymphenburg Castle Park: doing sport and visiting the most majestic gardens in Munich at the same time – two in one!
    • Luitpoldpark: train your endurance by running up and down the Luitpoldhügel.
  • Are there any prizes?

Yes! If the goal is reached, we will randomly give out a couple of small prizes among all participants.

The lucky winners will be announced on July 2nd on our Instagram channel.

We hope that you will have a lot of fun at our Running Challenge!
