Application
The Bachelor is subject to TUM's aptitude assessment. The application window opens in spring; deadlines, documents and eligibility are published by the central TUM admissions office, make sure you start early.
Before you start
Once you have your acceptance: enroll on time, request your student card and check the maths pre-course (MINT-Vorkurs). The pre-course is the best opportunity to refresh your skills and meet your fellow freshmen.
For first-semester students
Your first year is built around four core exams. How they are scheduled and what happens if one goes wrong is explained in the section below.
The "3-out-of-4" rule
In your first two semesters, you must pass at least three of these four core exams by the end of your 2nd semester, otherwise you will be ex-matriculated. Plan your schedule, take the re-takes seriously and ask us if you need advice.

The recommended study plan
The FPSO defines a recommended study plan: 180 credits over six semesters, 30 per semester. It is an orientation, not an obligation, but following it is the simplest way to keep up with the credit requirements and finish in six semesters.

This is the general plan. The exact split shifts depending on your specialization: Chemistry, Informatics, Electrical & Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Medicine each front-load or back-load the technical credits differently. Appendix 1 of the FPSO has the full breakdown per specialization.
Course schedules
These are the most recently published schedules. Winter semester covers the 1st, 3rd and 5th semester, summer semester the 2nd, 4th and 6th. Use them as an orientation. The schedule for your own semester is published shortly before lectures start, so always check the Download Center for the current version.
