Our Departments

The department for University Policy contains all “political” duties and projects of the student council. We represent your interests in a broad number of committees against the faculty, professors, and the entire university. Our tasks consist of causes such as improving the overall level of teaching, remodeling our degree programs, the use of student fee compensation funds, but also legal aspects and changes to the statutes.

The department for Internal Organization is by far the smallest department in the entire student council. It consists of merely three members – the council speakers. These are students who have in the past made a special effort on behalf of the faculty and have been voted into office by the other student council members at the start of each summer semester.

The council speakers are the public face of the student council. This applies both to external as well as internal communications. They are responsible for fielding all external inquiries that cannot be clearly directed to one of the other departments. They also represent the student council, together with the department heads of the department for University Policy, in front of the university council and professors. In this function, they also have the responsibility of voicing concerns on your behalf during coordination meetings, which bring to light issues that otherwise would remain uncovered.

The department for Event Management is in charge of organizing events of the TUM SOM student council. This includes regular events such as:

- Semester Opening Party - Midterm Party - Semester Closing Party - Mulled Wine and Cocktail Booth

Our Careers department is mainly in charge of proposal calls for corporate events and overall questions about companies in the marketplace. Besides that Career organises several events during the semester e.g. with professional recruiter and the famous Company Crawl.

The Marketing department is in charge of representing our student council in public. Our efforts are aimed at current and prospective students of the TUM School of Management.

We are your central point of contact at the university - run entirely by students, for students! Our mission is to support you throughout your academic journey by passing on our first-hand experiences, tips, and tricks to make your university life as smooth and fun as possible.

Here is what we do for you:

- Welcome Events: We love welcoming our Bachelor and Master freshmen! We organize the traditional Bavarian Weißwurst breakfast on your first day, manage the freshman buddy program, and plan our legendary, highly popular orientation weekend trips. - Information Sessions: We host dedicated info events to help you choose your technical major and prepare for your first-semester exams. Through our "Ask Us Anything" Help Desks, we also answer all your questions about semesters abroad, project studies, or working student jobs. - Events & Networking: We connect you with the community! We host the "Day of Student Initiatives" to help you find volunteer opportunities, the "Evening of the Scholarships" to show you financial aid options, and regular Stammtische (regulars' tables) to help you make friends.
