The AKG C214 is a professional large-diaphragm condenser microphone that is designed as a cost-effective alternative to the high-end C414 family. It has a one-inch capsule on an integrated suspension to reduce mechanical noise. It also has a switchable 20 dB attenuation pad that allows recording of loud sources of up to 156 dB SPL. The C214 has a cardioid polar pattern, which means that it focuses on recording sound directly in front of the microphone. It captures sound by combining one capsule of the legendary C414 dual-capsule system and patented AKG Back-Plate Technology.
